Bluestone Church Arts Space Artist in Residence

Wow wow wow, my mind is still reeling from the pure JOY and PRIVILEGE it was to be in such a deep creative space over the past two weeks at the Bluestone Church Art Space in Footscray as part of the Bluestone Church Arts Space Artist in Residence Program.

I went there 2 weeks ago with nothing more than an idea and a loop pedal that I still didn't really know how to use. By the end of the residency, I had composed 8 choral works, turning myself into a choir with live loops.

A few songs are fully formed, and a few are still pretty rough- but I'm blown away with what I was able to achieve when I had the time and space to do it.

It really makes me think that Virginia Woolf was definitely on to something about women needing a room of one's own, hey.... now, wouldn't that be lovely?

I have no idea when this whole concept will be ready to share with the world, but I can't wait to sing it for you when the timing is right.

But last Sunday, 20 or so people gathered with me under a big fat full moon in the space to hear me perform the raw material. The feeling in the room was generous and electric, and the feedback I got was that I'm definitely cooking up something pretty special.

A huge thank you to Maribyrnong Arts and Culture for this magic opportunity and to the Maribyrnong City Council for supporting this project.
