One year later…
My album I NEVER SAID A WORD turns one today!!!
These milestones are so important to celebrate, and today I'm taking a few moments to reflect on the experience of making and releasing it. I listened to it in full last night, and am relieved to say that I still love every track! That is a true testament to the musicians who were involved in making these songs with me- in particular my lovely friend Rohan Sforcina who produced the album- his ears and care are heard on every track, and I'm so glad we got to make this record together.
Making the record was the fun part - releasing it stretched me in ways that took me by surprise. I wasn't ready for the financial, emotional, exhaustive hit that it would take on me. I'm so proud of all that I pulled off with with no manager or publicist and my cute ADHD brain but to be honest, I think it's taken me a full year to "recover" from releasing this baby out into the world! Music release burnout is real, especially for the independent and self managed among us. If you're in the midst of it all right now I SEE YOU and am cheering you on! The world needs your art. You are so brave to share it ❤️
I've learnt so much about making and releasing music these past few years: lots of mistakes and a couple of wins have taught me well. I'll be sharing all that I learnt over on my newsletter next week, so sign up and join the gang. ✨️
THANK YOU to all of you who have streamed, listened to, shared, bought this album. I've been so blown away by the amount of random messages I still get from people who have discovered my music in the past year and have reached out to tell me what my songs mean to them. You have no idea how much that lifts me up! I'm so grateful 🙏
Friendly reminder that some copies of the album on vinyl and CD are still available on my Bandcamp store - so please head on over, grab a copy and support this little indie artist that could!
A year on, and I'm very, very ready to let these songs just exist and do and be whatever they need to be in the world now. No more pushing. New music, here I come!
4eva grateful
